i started up an ebay account which proved to be very dangerous.. i decided to get a few more mods for my 400.. trail tech torch lights, 450r carb, burgard +2's, asv clutch lever, 450r shocks which arent here quite yet, and a quadtech hood for christmas.. heres how it stood before from the front.

as it sits tonight.. everything is on except for the shocks of course, and the lights. the uppers are chrome and the lowers and tie rods are silver vein.

looks sweet, how hard was it to install the carb?

thanks for the compliments everybody! and thanks again for the great parts franky. :) the a arms ran me about $270 shipped and the carb was.. interesting? its still not jetted perfectly. the hardest part was reaming out the air boots, but if you talk to zrpilot, he has a very detailed installation thread. he also made a custom adapter for his that looks like it would have helped tremendously. my shocks better be here today!:grr:

was it worth the hassle with the airboots and all that for the carb? im thinking about buying my neighbors off his 04 for pretty cheap but idk if its really worth it to hack up the boots and then not have it work out and not be able to put the stock carb back on

edit: also when you get your shocks make sure you get some pictures!

a 450R carb is 10x times better then a stock 400ex one !

You do not need to ream out the air boots! all you need is some WD-40 and some elbow grease.Mine went right on

the air box side or the cylinder side? the air box side is the only side that i had to ream out. its still a major pain and nearly impossible on that side. the other side fits pretty nicely as it is.

the 400 looks nice:cool: I did not ream either boot. I might have used heat gun for the airbox boot, but everything else fit nicely

home for thanksgiving! the first thing i did was start working on it:o . i got the hood on which i decided to just keep.. shocks have to be ground a little bit. i knocked off the nut for the body mounts but it still hits on part of the frame/shock mount gussets. i wasnt aware of this  ... to be ground down tomorrow! also got a black seat for it. now i just need a bumper.. IMS itimidator and red ring hipers will hopefully be in the works next year.

i decided to go with wheel spacers for the rear. i dont jump a whole lot and i dont really need to spend anymore money on an axle than i already have on everything else. i'll probably also be trimming the rear plastic sometime soon. thats all for now. i'll get better pics tomorrow..:)

pipeless416 where did you get that hood?
and also be carefull with those wheel spacers because my friend knows from experience it puts some pressure on the axle and its easier to bend that way, but you should be okay im sure you already know this. You can probably get away with the stock axle too it shouldnt be bad? but i may be wrong. Bike looks great btw.

thanks guys, i got the hood from billyboy, who got it from... gin400ex or something..? and im not worried about my axle bending because i really never jump or anything. its just that the front is so much wider than the back now.

Pipeless416
11-20-2007, 10:30 AM
alright ross, you got a PM lol. and yes 440challenger i got the shocks in after some grinding. they ride so much better than stock, but it would be nice to actually have them set up for me.. oh well, maybe i'll get a new axle first haha

and yes, the paint holds up great.. except for when gas sits on it for a week or so. :o i put a 450r carb on it and i ended up severing the fuel hose, therefore a gallon of gas poured onto the backside of the engine where it stripped the paint all the way off and i had nice silver colored cases again.. it touched up pretty easily though after i got that all settled. cant even tell :blah:

Quad looks real good, but make sure to keep an eye on those lower balljoints on those arms, they tend to break often.
