I belive flat track and TT racing are very different....

My take:

Flat track racing is done on a flat oval or circular track either paved or dirt and TT style racing is done on a mostly paved track with various turns and relatively shallow humps.

TT is kinda like flat track. Its flat, as in no jumps but not completely flat. I think there's some humps and stuff, and its not a circle, its an actual track.

Flattrack racing is oval racing(left turns only). In TT racing there are jumps(small ones that you will catch air on) and left and right turns

TT isn't necessarily on paved vs dirt tracks. That's more of a Supermoto thing.

There are some differences of opinion, some will say that flattrack is on an oval, and TT is any flat track that's NOT an oval.

Some will stick to the more classic meaning, that in order to be considered a TT track, the course must have both right and left turns, at least one high-speed jump (or roller), and at least one off-camber turn.

But since either is run on a track that is essentially "flat", the terms are often used interchangeably.

I kinda think of them on like the track that those pickups race on....like the off road trucks. Not really big jumps.....but you could get some air...and still go about top speed.
