On many of the posts i have seen where people are using CRF timing chains. Any particular reason? Are they just as good as an aftermarket timing chain? And which CRF are they getting them off of? 250, 450?

what is the advantage of using a different timing chain?

Its a good idea to upgrade to a heavy duty timing chain when going to a larger cam. They are suposed to be stronger and longer lasting than the stock chain.

D.I.D. finally came out with a chain for the 400ex, the HD chain everyone sells is the actual Honda bike chain, but you gotta get the right part # and I ain't giving it out...

The bike chain is 2 plates wider, its overall stronger and last longer, people don't generally break timing chains, they stretch and slip, so the 400ex one is really sufficient but anymore I always use the bike chain.
