Oil change indicator

So I just did the first Oil change on my Honda Rancher 400 and I thought it would have a sensor or something to realize the oil had been changed and turn the light off, but it's still on.

I'm assuming other honda 4x4's have a similar feature so does anybody have any experience with this, or does the dealer have something special to reprogram the next one?

How can I get this off, or setup so it comes on when the next oil change is due?

key on, hold trip/odo and hr/clock buttons for more than 2 seconds. (hold both buttons at the same time)

May be a dumb question, but how exactly do the oil change indicators work? Do they just monitor how much time the engine has been running and has a set time for an oil change?
