Is there any reason this wouldn't work or would be bad to do? Or should I upgrade to a 400ex master cylinder? Why?

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. I'm looking at both of them, and they look dang near identical.

Of course, I'm making the assumption that I have the stock master on my 250r, but I have no reason to suspect otherwise.

Bottom line:

Honda sport ATV master cylinders are universal.

I'd recommend going with a 450R because they have an adjustable lever that is also shorter...which is why not many have to run RTC's anymore...

That's one advantage.. and the fact that they are newer.

that's what i was thinking. newer is usually better at this point with the R's.

what was the benefit of the shortty levers? I only ride sand and rarely use the front brake - so it's out of my realm!

I just like having a shorter lever, a more positive feel for some reason, and the adjustability is nice, because you can make the fronts lock up on a dime, which can come in handy in MX... sand, I guess don't worry about it, lol.

What everyone has posted is correct. The 250R master cylinder will work with the 400ex calipers, as will the 400ex and 450R master cylinders.

The shorty levers are nice, but not a must. The adjustability is nice too.
