sounds to me like you aren't being careful as you start the threads so you don't cross thread... stainless bolts are not as strong as a grade 8 steel

i didnt cross thread them... its just in the past to get them to stop leaking we haev to tighten them as tight as we can

I've never had a single problem with HiPers.

Never had bolts break, or anything break....and never had any tires leak.

Sounds like something in your process is causing issues.

I've gone through several sets of tires on my Hipers, never had a bolt break. Just remember to criss cross when you tightning the ring. If you don't do that you run the risk of cracking the ring.

YOu could have problems w/ them leaking around the seal in b/w the aluminum plate and the other part of the wheel and not around the rings.

have you cleaned the ring and the grooves the rings set it? that is a huge problem with hipers. but it is a QUICK fix.

make sure you are not tightening the rings to more then 10 ftlbs. thats all that is needed.

sounds like there is something else wrong.

i have broken off 2 bolts before too. but i break all kinds of bolts. sometimes i don't think i know my own strenght either.

I tighten mine w/ a 3/8 impact gun and have never broken one. 10 ft/lbs. is like a good cordless drill strength.

i always do mine with a 3/8's electric impact gun set to about 12 ft lbs, chainged MANY MANY MANY tired on hipers and have never had 1 problem. maybe you should try doing it differently

I loved my HiPers for the short amount of time I had them. Always remember to torque EVERYTHING. Never underestimate your strength when you're tightening down things, you break bolts that way...trust me.

Hiper recommends 7 ft/lbs. You tightened them as much as you could and the bolt broke so it's Hipers fault? You make me laugh.

Next time clean the bead, use some bead sealant and take the time to use a torque wrench.

7 ft/lbs. are you kidding me. I am a Cadillac & Hummer Service Tech. I use tools more in a week than most people do in a year. I understand why you wouldnt torque them very tight cause it appears to have brass threads in the wheel. Thats one thing that doesnt make since. The threads should strip out before the bolt will break but Im not familiar w/ his mechanical knowledge. Another person said tighten in a criss cross pattern. That the only thing that I can think of he is not doing. Getting one side down and then trying to tighten the other side down.

I do mine in criss cross pattern and torque to 7 then 9 and then 11ft lbs no probs and no leaks.

its your tires, thats why there leaking i had the same problem running junk kenda klaw, holeshots and razrs work fine for me

yeah the pattern could be your problem. if u have a cordless drill use it. Its quick and its not gonna break anything. Once you get the ring seated all the way around then go to tightening them

I've yet to see an adjustable torque impact also....seen adjustable ones of course, but not specific torques.

What I have done in the past though, is take a torque wrench, set it to your needed torque, tighten a bolt of some sort to that spec.....then take your torque wrench on the lowest setting, and slowly turn it up until it budges the bolt, then you know your in the right area. Of course it's not real accurate, but if you just need something in that area, it works.........kind of, lol.

And it sounds like a torque wrench might be a good investment for you lol.

Why would I be joking?

I'm almost 100% sure their site used to say 7 ft/lbs. I have a torque wrench that goes down to 10 ft/lbs and I remember I couldn't use it for that very reason. I see their tech info is now "new and improved" so they probably upped the torque rating since I last looked 2 mos. ago.

Im was just saying that 7 ft./lbs. is not tight enough for me.

General Questions
Q. What are the torque specs and patterns for my HiPer Wheels?
A. Center Section – Torque center section bolts with 3/8 ” drive ratchet, maximum 9 - 11 ft-lbs (108 – 132 in-lbs) in a two-stage star or criss-cross pattern.

Bead-Lock Ring – Torque bead-lock ring bolts with 3/8” drive ratchet, maximum 8 - 11 ft-lbs (96 – 132 in-lbs), (NOTE: DO NOT EXCEED TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS)

YOUR NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS PROBLEMS.CK YOUR WHEELS HYPER HAS CHANGED THE INCERTS IN THE WHEEL FROM BRASS TO STEEL.USE NEVERSEASE.ON THE THREADS,THAT SHOULD WORK

my hipers never leaked or broke a bolt
but i had problems with the built in hub breaking the splines off my 300ex. and i have seen built 450s shred them off easily.

the built in hub deal was a horrible idea. they did rip and sheer off the splines like they were nothing. hiper stopped making them real quick because of this. i have 2 sets of hipers and have only had one bolt snap in the 4 years ive owned hiper wheels. i have also noticed that more people have problems now that the bolts thread into steel inserts instead of brass. brass is wayyy more forgiving and im sure will give alot more than steel. i use to torque my rings to 10ft lbs but now i only do 8ft lbs with the same results. there is no need to he man them tight!

Mine do the exact same thing. I was just trying to replace my rings to black ones and I went to remove the bolts and 4 of them stripped on one wheel, and 3 have stripped on the other rear wheel and I still have to do the other side. Also, some of the bolts just keep spinning and aren't coming out. And there is no way these bolts are stainless. Every one of mine are rusted on the threads. I'm not happy at all right now with my Hipers. I also tourqed them to the proper specs and never more.
