426ex problem?

I have a question....when going down a road or down a straight on the trail in 5th in the top of the gear and i hold it their for about 5-10 secs it acts like ive hit the rev limiter. the weird thing is that even after i let off for 5-10 secs it still acts like its running out of gas or something, now I'm not sure if its the rev limiter or a rich or lean condition, like i said even after i let off when it does this, it takes a little while for it to clear out..right now I'm running a 16 tooth sprocket and air box lid on with 93 pump gas, the plug looks black and the filter is pretty clean....another thing that i could think of is an air leak? when going down the trail i hit 1st 2nd, 3rd ,4th, 5th hold a short period of time a bam it starts acting up any help is greatly appreciated.cdi crapping out?

Vent tube on the fuel cap plugged or pinched?

i just went out and checked the vent tube its not plugged or pinched. carb fuel lines?

That's possible too. With a 16 tooth front sprocket, that should be plenty of pull, so you're not hitting the rev limiter. And a 16 for trail riding? That's pretty steep. Yeah, I would check all the vent lines to the carb.

yeah a 16 tooth allday long in the woods, just makes my gears a little longer.

no idea man, but id like to know the answer.

mine does the same thing..cuts out in fifth after being there at top speed for a while, but it doesnt bog at all in any other gear when i rev them out. its weird eh?

Just another idea...

I belive there's a screen in the fuel tank above the petcock that may be in need of cleaning or even the petcock itself.
