I need to rebuild my rear swingarm and am having trouble getting the bolt out. When i turn the bolt, the threaded end that the nut goes on does not turn.
I assume that means the bolt is broken? Any ideas how to remove it if so? I tried hammering it out but didn't want to hit it too hard yet.
This is a 01 400ex with stock swingarm by the way.

Am I right that it is broken? Is that common?

might not be broken. take some weight off of the swing arm. if the nut is already off take a hammer and a punch and knockit out

I have all the weight off and the shock removed. Is the bolt one piece that goes all the way through? When I turn one side the other doesn't turn with it. I am going to soak it overnight and see it either side will pull out.
The bolt is one piece, sounds like it is broken. If it is broken and the swingarm is still in place somewhat solidly you may have a tough time getting the bolt out:(

i've had cases where the bolt had to be cut out.
its most unusual for a bolt to break but not impossible. did you buy the quad second hand?

Yes I bought it used, but the rear swing arm has been nice and tight untill recently. I think I broke it when I crashed a jump flat out in third last weekend and rolled the bike.
