I am having problems with starting my quad. When I go to start it up for the first time with the choke it fires first or second kick then idles. Once the choke is turned off it wants to run until you go to touch the gas and then it dies. After that it does not want to start and it always has a loud backfire before it will start again. It wants to shut off again after running at normal idle for about 30 seconds or so. It also seems that when it is running that it does not have the snap off the bottom end that it should. It feels sluggish past first gear off the bottom until it gets into higher RPM's. The timing is right and the valves seem to be in spec. Does anyone out there have any ideas where I should look to correct this problem? The only thing i have is an HMF slip on with a 122 main and stock pilot. The lid is on the airbox and the motor is all stock. I am going to clean out the carburator this weekend and put in a new plug. Thanks!

uh---- try pulling the lid off the airbox and running about a 175-185 keihin-main jet

If that doesnt work, try a larger pilot jet. The pilot circuit has to do with fuel from startup to like 1/8 or 1/4 throttle. Thats what it sounds like to me anyway. try a 48 or so...
