Ok guys i got a question. I have a 2000 400ex with a 440 big bore kit, stage 1 hot cam, full pro circut t-4 exhaust, and my jetting is a 160 and a 42. I have a friend who just got a 2001 400. when he bought it he was told it was stock then it blew a head gasket and when he took it back to where he bought it to have fixed they told him it had a 440. This wheeler has a tremendous amout of power compared to mine, and will out run a 450r in a drag race. We took apart his carb to find it is jetted all stock and he also runs with his air box lid on. Is there any way that this could be a stroker motor running on stock jet settings. Let me know what you guys think.

No offense but, that cam your running is probably hurting you in performance. I have a 440 that also outruns a stock 450R but I have a Stage 2 cam and a better exhaust. Mine makes 42+hp.

Id have to say that cam you have is hurting your performance as well. No matter what you do to a bike-more power requires more fuel. If the bike is stroked it HAS to be jetted to run. If it's stroked, that means it has more cc's than a stock bike. meaning jetting needs to be adjusted to accomodate that.

yea i didnt think that it could be a stroker it just didnt make since. but do ya think that the cam would make that big of a difference?

Cam makes a big difference. It's kinda like sucking a golf ball through a garden hose analogy. You have a 440 that uses more fuel, so now you need more air. And the cam isnt opening the valves far enough to allow for easy air delivery.
