Maxima, light gear oil for the gearbox and normal engine oil for the rest, get onto Jed at JS extreme in norfolk he will sort you out, best oil you can use on a 450r, if you need his number its on the JH racing website, tell him Dave from EQA put you onto him.

Anybody in the U.S. with input on this. I just did my first service with honda 10w40, and my buddy is like whoa, don't use that crap. It's been proven to suck, lol. So what should I be using, weight, and manufacturer please.

It says 10w30 in the service manual, so I'll be draining the 10w40 out soon.

Maxima is available in the US, do a google search for dealers.

i use Belray thumper in the engine its 20w-50 semisynthetic, and i use the honda gold bottle 20w-50 semisynthetic without moly in the trans. stuff seems to work good, the honda oils arent bad, but the black bottle petroleum blends are pretty ****ty, the honda semi-sythentics are pretty good oils

Just use any JASO MA rated oil on both the crank and tranny side. I would stick with 10W40 weight, maybe when it gets cold you could switch to 10W30.

i run 20-50 in the summer and 10-30 in the winter for the engine. im sponsored by the local honda shop so i use honda racing full sinthetic for the engine and honda racing 80-85wt tranny oil for the tranny
