piston replacement 15hrs HRC kit

I have seen a thread on this forum that talks about it is recomemded to change piston 15hrs when using HRC kit

Is this true and can someone tell why the reason

I have just broken piston that has done 16hrs and i have hrc kit
Is it just the piston cant take extra HP from cam etc ??

Please tell

I've never seen anyone follow that 15hr interval.
Some people probably don't even change their oil every 15 hours let alone their piston.

Even then isn't the rings ur supposed to change not the piston?

Most people can get a few hundred hours out of the 06 top ends before they even open them up at all. Something else just went wrong with your setup.
Is it still under warranty?

Let's just put it this way.. Honda knows how to cover their a'ss when it comes to engines. By saying that you need to change the piston every 15 hours, it saves them from replacing damaged top ends because no body will follow that rule.

Get it? They are a wealthy company just trying to stay wealthy.

I'm hearing rumors that it was detonation from bad or too low of octane gas.

Owners manual says for 06 450er that you should change the oil every 12 months or 100 hours yes 100 hours so that means you would change the piston 6 times to one oil change thats crazy:confused: :confused: :confused:

Ya it makes no sense at all, dunno what they were thinking or if it's a mistake they never noticed.
I wouldn't even consider my rings broken in at 15 hours.

failure to change oil worn engine, that doesnt crack piston.

i would considere a failure in the piston itself! or your quad running lean and have some detonation.
