after reinstalling my newly cleaned carburetor Im not getting it to start. I have confirmed that there is fuel going into the carburetor and the float bowl is filling up but no start!!! It just fires and fires but it will not start. 2 times though it fired for a brief second and then died right back. I havn't seen a pattern for that yet. Every other time it just turns over and over and over but will not start. spark plug good, on off switch good. If the float bowl is filling up that means the carb is getting fuel correct? I need help. Thanks guys.

update my throttle needle wasn't seated properly so now it fires with the choke on but immediately dies. Can't get it to stay started. Ill do a massive search but any comments here would be greatly appreciated.

Is the float working right? Gas on? kill switch?

I cleaned a carb and the float was sticking and I got it to un stick and it worked perfect after and ran.

Gas is on and going into the carb and I can drain it from the float so we know it is getting in there. Kill switch not set to off and just cleaned float valve and it moved the way it should.

I have found that If I wait a minute inbetween starts it will start but instantly die. I also think I'm missing a piece from the carb. There are 3 pieces on the pilot jet. 1) the jet that screws into the top of it 2) the pilot itself and 3) the Jet needle set?? when I pulled the carb apart there wasnt one of these on the tip of the pilot.

did you check to see if you're getting a good spark?

the pilot circuit of the carb consists the pilot jet only and the fuel mixture screw.

what is this part number 2 at the tip of the pilot jet? Its listed as a needle set, Jet. I don't remember seeing this.

item 2 is the needle set jet. that is what the needle slides into. everything from item 2 down is the Main jet circuit of the carb. #2 should be a little brass or copper sleeve.

item 37 is the pilot jet.

but yeah if that's missing it may be a problem.

Try it with the reserve on. I dunno but after I cleaned my carb I know have to put it on reserve. If I put it to ON it will start but dies when I give it gas.

yeah thanks but I have. Gas is getting to the carb because Its coming out of the tube from the gas tank. Also after draining the float chamber and turning the gas on it fills it up so gas IS getting into the carb.
