chain stretch

When I bought my 300 used I was told the chain was new. It looked it. Now I have to adjust it quite often. Always tightening. I was wondering if chains stretch that much or is this a cheap chain.

When you tighten the chain, do you tighten the two allen nuts tight enough or are they loosening up causing the chain to become loose again?

I am tightening the allens.

I also mark the location of the carrier so I know that I continue to tighten the chain each time.

Are you over tightening the chain? this will cause it to streach much faster than norm. Are the sprockets and axle bearings in good shape? May want to take a look at all of these things.
