get a sparks and buy a quiet insert.

Basically ANY full sysytem, or aftermarket header w/ a slipon is pretty good on the 300ex.

Except for the Cobra exhausts. Stay far far away. DG Kromes tend to be troublesome.

You may look at a silencer that has the tunable disks and quiet core insert options. You can adjust the noise level down, and open it up when you are in an area that it's not going to disturb anyone.

Might look at the good old Supertrapp w/ adjustable rear disk plate.

I dont know if you are interested or not but I have a white brothers head pipe on my 300ex with a hmf polished slip on. The only reason it has a white brothers head pipe is becuase the HMF full system wasnt out and im not sure if it even is yet but it lines up perfectly and alot of other people use this combination. Let me know if you are interested because I think you can get the quiet core for the hmf slip on. I will make you a deal on it if you will trade me your stock one and money. I am trying to get my quad back to stock to sell it and the pipe is in mint condition. If you give me your email i can send you some pictures of it.

Supertrapp IDS-2.

I ran one against a 300 with a sparks and a 300 with a yoshi and mine was still better. Plus its cheaper and you can adjust for sound/power

(I have a sparks x-4. They are VERY loud.)

As above said. Supertrapp makes a very good pipe for what you are wanting.

HMF pipe with a white brother header is a good choice. Even though i have a TC supertrapp, for quietness i would go with that combo

The sparks with a quiet core is "legal". It's still not a very quiet pipe.

There are other pipes out there that are much much quieter that will work just fine on a nearly stock 300ex.

I LOVE the sparks pipes. But, quiet pipes, they are not.

However I have not heard the newer "Extra Quiet" insert. If that get's you under 93dB's, then, yes, the Sparks would be the way to go, IMHO.

Any dB tests on the "Extra Quiet" insert?

I still like my FMF Q2. I have the pipe and silencer. It has been a great combination. Decent power, not to loud, easy to repack and if I use the quality material it holds up for a long time.
And it was $300 for the full system when I bought it.

i found it on some website that i'd never heard of before an though i'd give it a chance. the only problem was the bolt wasnt the right size, so i went an picked one up at the hardware store. only problem after a year is the damn sticker fell off! lol

the sticker falling off could be a sign of running to hot,
did it just fall off or did it kind of "burn" off?
If you mean the bolt at the rear that pretty much holds the muffler on I lost mine on the snirt run in early April. Check it now and again. One of the guys with us had HUGE wire ties, 2 feet long and 1/2 inch wide for crying out loud. Pretty much saved my @$$ though, I didn't even have a piece of string.
