What do you use to lube your O-ring chain?

I've used bar and chain oil numerous times. Works fine but can be a little messy.

WD 40. Ive used it for the last year with no problems, only thing is that you have to spray it on a lot more, like after every time you wash your bike. No biggie tho, I get it free from work anyway.

I would not suggest WD40 on your chain, its is not a lubricant its a penatrant

I run bel-ray chain wax (great for O-ring chains)

ive talked to numerous racers that told me wd40 is all theyve ever used.
however, they prob buy more chains than the avg rider such as myself.ive been using that but since ive heard this, ive switched to siklene i think its called.good stuff.

There are some huge threads about using wd40 on a street bike forum that I am a member of. The general conclusion is that with an oring chain it is fine. An oring chain is sealed and all it needs is to be clean with a light coat of lubricant to keep it from rusting and to help with contact between the rollers and the sprockets. The wd40 aids in cleaning it, and provides a light coat of lubricant. Spray the chain, wipe it off with a rag, spray it again. I have been doing this for years on all my toys that have an oring chain. works great

so it cant penetrate an o-ring?
google it, there are many tests where wd40 trashes bearings/chains by penetrating and then degreasing internal parts.

it does do a good job cleaning and displacing water, just not as good at lubrication

I dont care if you use it, Im just saying there are better choices

im getting off this dead horse now

Tell you the truth, the main reason I use wd40 is because its a lot cleaner than the other lubes I've tried. Its been 16 months and I've had no problems so far and from the looks of it I doubt I'll be replacing anything anytime soon. But if it somehow wears out too quick I'll switch to that Honda graphite stuff.

I use 10w-30 motor oil it seems there is always alot around in the garage, it does state 90 weight gear oil in the service manual but I think the stuff smells bad, as far as making a mess it does a little but I ride trails and It's not often my upper plastics are clean never mind my swingarm skid plate and under my rear fenders.
