ported or as-cast? I thought that most national level setups (pipe, carb, porting, head mod, etc. ) on a 250 would be in the 40-45 hp range........ maybe not

For the horse power you are looking for a good ported 265 would be perfect. I have a 265 that puts out around 48 horse power. I went to a 330 and I'm getting a lil over 60 out of it.

low-high 60's depending on timing and jetting. sparks tt pipe, cr ignition, and 39pwk. 76mm piston (330) with 4mm crank = 343cc. pulling approx 40hp at 5k which is what you need to pull the next gear. it's a rock solid power all over dune motor.

still yet to test all the other pipes and see which is the best performer!

Don't worry so much about the top numbers. Work on the power curve you want. That'll make all the difference.

exactly what i just realized. it'll be a trail quad that sees some small hills where you'd need some bottom end to have fun on. my rm125 gets halfway up, loses traction, then just spins from clutch dumping. the gas gas ec200 though, takes the hills pretty easily. given, the rm is stock and the gas gas has just about everything

My stock 89 long rod motor built by 1 Dir Racing is putting out 52hp with 32ftlbs of torque with 1 Dir Racings X3 MX/Dune porting with Keihin 39mm A/S carb bored and tappered to 40.5mm, 1 Dir Racings G-3 reed valve, K&N filter, PT high rev pipe, 1 Dir Racing cool head running on TRICK 110 with Amsoil mixed at 50:1. Right now my motor is back at 1 Dir Racing getting their pre-pusher design which im told is going to give me another 8-12hp with another 6-8ftlbs of torque. After that I will be having them make me a custome pipe which im told will take the power up around 25% more everywhere in the powerband.

Not long ago I was considering having 1 Dir Racing build me a big bore motor but then I would have to live in the 8500rpm range. With a built stock long rod motor with their pre-pusher design I can rev up to 10,000 rpms which is great for the type of riding/racing that I do.
