I Just bought a Rossi 308 for my little brother for doing good in school. I got it for a lot less than i expected, so i figure I will build it to something nice for him.

I want to but a bipod, a scope, and a tactcal body onto it. Where can i find these, if possible.

Another thing, does anyone know what happened to my rim thread?

any help is apprecaited, have a good day,

Josh

Josh, You may want to give www.midwayusa.com a look. As far as a decent scope, I would check out the Simmons AETEC. Not a terribly expensive scope but a good one. I have a 4.5-14x44. As far as a stock goes, McMillan makes a REAL nice lightweight stock. Im just not sure about one for your type of gun. A bipod, look for a HARRIS. The best bipod you can buy. If you will be shooting from a sitting position, you'll want the 13" - 27" bipod. Lieing on the ground, you'll want a 9" - 13". If shooting from uneven ground, you'll want the pivoting bipod aswell. Hope I helped you out some. I recommended a few good things for less expensive then most things.

Price figures on what I told you about:

Simmons AETEC 4.5-14x44 - $215
McMillan stock - Range from $200 and up (H&S Precision makes nice stocks too. Little more expensive.)
Harris Bipod - $90 - $100

I plan on building a bench rifle for myself. If you have anymore questions, let me know!

Cabela's!!! Great selection!

36mm Leopold 2.5 to 8 power with duplex reticle cross-hairs...amazing scope...best one i've used so far.

any kind of bipod with telescopic legs are good, because they're really quiet when adjusting them, and they range from using in a prone position to a stand up position.

Make sure you level your scope...lots of people don't know you need to do that.

Leupold makes a great scope. Just keeping in his price range was all I was doing.. Haha. My next bench rifle is going to have the Leupold MKIV. I'm a firm believer in the fact that your scope should cost AS MUCH or MORE than the rifle. Good suggestions though 400eXr1d3rZ.

I dont need any of it, but my brother wants a look that looks of a sniper rifle, and he has worked hard, so as pointless as it is, its what he gets

What kind of Savage do you have? My next bench rifle is going to be the Savage 12FV. As far as accuracy from the box, you can't beat a Savage. I plan on getting the .223 as it's a cheap, effective round. Sorry to hi-jack your thread.
