I am thinking about getting a 13 tooth front for my 05 400ex. Will I loose a lot of mid-top power? Will I gain a lot of low end? How do I install it? Do I have to adjust the chain?

take the chain gaurd cover off, take the case saver off, unbolt the 2 bolts and take the clip that holds the sprocket on, take it off, put the new one on, and put it all back on, and yes you have to adjust the chain by making it tighter

it also doesn't hurt to put a little blue lock tite on the threads of the sprocket bolts then torque them.

with the 13t sprocket i always find myself going through the gears quickly and it does pull quite nicely but you do lose a decent amount in top end. it all depends on your riding style and your preference. i personally dont like it the much, but thats just me. try it front sprockets are cheap if you dont like it change back to the other one

Hi I have a 07 400ex,I've tried 13 to 16 tooth front sprocket.I reverted back to the 13 as it gets me to 100kph very quick, and can wheelstand in the first 4 gears no probs.

Realistically 100kph is fast enough I reckon.

Hope this helps.
