piston rings

is it usual to only have 1 ring on a piston?

I know four stroke definatly have more that one they have like 4 and if im not mistakin 2 stroke 2.

a lot of dirtbikes have one ring good for performance but needs re-ringed more often.

A lot of your high performance 4-stroke pistons only use one ring. But they have the life cycle of a 85cc two stroke and need to be changed fairly frequent. If you're not a hardcore racer I'd stay away from the single ring pistons.
