I just ordered a 450R carb. and a jet kit. I will admit I am horrible at Jetting. Where should I start with Jetting? I have a CT full exhaust system, Uni Filter, Aluminum airbox without a lid. I am at about 1800 ft above sea level. temperatures range from 40 degrees to 90 degrees. mostly around 65 or 70 though.

I know I'm going to have to modify my intake boots, and that's no problem. I'm going to form my tank around the carb, by putting warm water in it and forming it with a spoon. Since I don't really care what happens to my stock tank.

Any tips or helpful hints would be great. Yes I know there is a sticky on this but Just wanted to hear if anything else has been discovered I should know about.

I would start at a 170-175. 50 pilot and #4 on the needle

check out my write-up

thanks for the quick reply. good write up also. I'll start there when I get my carb. Can I just purchase a piece of gas hose from a auto parts store?

The gas hose from an auto parts would work, but the problem is the fitting size on the carb is MUCH larger then the fitting on the tank.

I would get the fuel line from the 450R, it is molded and has different sizes on each end.

yes, even with the 450r fuel hose, you'll need a radiator clamp on the tank side. also, forming the tank isnt necessary, however i did need to cut away a little bit from the piece that goes between the tank and the engine. i'll see if my brother can post the pics because i dont have them here at school.
