i know that a whole front end from a 400ex will fit with no moding or problems, my question is will a 400ex rear shock fit and will it ride better then the stock 250r shock?please i need to know

I don't think the 400ex a-arms are a direct bolt on. I believe there is some shimming that must be done where the a-arms bolt to the frame. Also, check the tie rod clearances. I assume you would be using 400ex spindles and brake calipers. The 400ex spindles are a bit different and I believe the tie rod geometry is a bit affected. Nothing that you can't over come, but just beware.

Second, the rear shock off of a 400ex will fit but you will need to add shims at the top shock mount. I'm not sure about the bottom mount. The 250r top shock mount is wider than that on the 400ex. That is the reason for needing the shims.

I have swapped out front shocks to/from a 400ex/250r. The 400ex is a bit heavier and therefore the shocks behave accordingly.
