motor swap?

i was wondering if there is any other motor i counld bolt into my 01 some fabricating is fine. I was thinking a 300 or 400 out of a 4*4 or something to that effect. as of now my motor needs a crank and rod kit, cylinder, and piston and rings. so for the mony spent on this i thought maybe i could put somthing bigger in.

Its never been done, but if you have the fabrication skills, go for it.

ive been lookin at mine thinkin bout doin it... but if u did u would also have to fine a way to fab. a swing arm... or if another swing arm could fit then that would work but u wouldnt be able to use the stock one cause u would have to have a chain and stuff...

i say u should go for it but hes right, you would need a alought of fabrication and a totally different swing arm.

thats why i was thinking out of a 4*4 so the motor is still shaft drive

I would take some rough measurements out of say a 350 rancher. There is the possibility that you might not be able to fit it inside without cutting framerails...which is more trouble than it is worth.

you also have to keep weight and balance in mind...

well from what i can tell all the 4*4's i looked at the shaft is on the wrong side:(

I'm wondering if the swingarms would be interchangeable as well. that would put the driveshaft where it needs to be.

might i suggest a smaller street bike motor :) you would need some huge fabricating though. I say go with a dirtbike motor. Try a honda 250 dirtbike motor or anything that will fit. Check out the hybrids forum and ask what size motor can be put in. I have seen a 300ex with an XR650 motor in it. A 300ex is a little smller so i have no doubt you couldnt out something like hat in there as long as you get at least a +4 swingarm. XR650 on a 400ex frame is insane, i mean like fastest thing you have ever ridden but on a smaller frame its even crazier.

no the 250r with the honda cbr 600 motor was scary fast:eek: but i will keep searching and let you guys know what i find.

If you are just wanting more power than i would build that 250 motor with a big bore, valve springs, rev box, pipe, filter, porting, web cam, and maybe even a higher compression piston. I think a 250ex that would smoke 300s and blasters would be really cool!

simple mods can get you to outrun blasters and 300ex's
