If your getting a new piston, on reasons of it being tired, then you will need to do something to the liner anyways.

If your getting a new piston, just for it being high compression....your better off just finishing off the stocker, then going with everything new, instead of putting a new piston in an old liner.

You may be able to get away with just a hone and a piston, but being its an 02, I would just go over-bore and a larger piston.
