View Full Version : help with carbon fiber hood

i bought a carbon fiber hood for a 250r and dont no what i was thinking i thought it was for a 400ex and i heard that you can cut the back tabs off of it and it would work on my 400ex. has anyone ever done this? if so could you tell me exactly what to do? any information it would be helpful

I just did mine and got it to fit O.K. but not perfect. I searched and found some help on here.

If you have any specific questions, I'll see if I can help. The key for me was cutting big holes in the front of the fender, so that the hood sits flush. They talk about it in the link, but its not real clear till you actually start lining everything up. If you don't do this the tabs on the hood, make it stick up and not flush. If you cut the tabs on the hood , closest to the bars, you won't cover all of the headlight ring you trimmed off. Just my experience. Sorry if this isn't clear. And be careful when trimming the top part of the fender, to make the hood sit flush, because you don't want to cut off the holes for the gas tank cover to attach to. Maybe someone else did it a different way, but I kinda followed the way the link did it. Mines the smoothie hood so I don't know if these instructions work with your hood.

thanks alot for all the help my hood is the second pic the vented one. ill try those instructions to see if it works your hood looks really good
