PREDATOR :):):)

im sure you will get a million different responses, saying that everyone and their brothers 450 r and yfz are the lightest, but production, i believe that the CanAM ds450 is the lightest, not sure of after market....

I hope your joking about the pred. Technically the Can Am is the lightest, being 345lbs dry, but that's only 5lbs less than a yfz.

On the CAN-Am is that the phony dry weight that Yamaha use, they list the YFZ450 at 350 lbs dry but on the show room floor it weights 372 Lbs with out gas. Is the CAN-AM the same way? The new KTM 450/525 weights 357 Lbs with out gas. I have seen some drag 450’s under 300 Lbs.

Do you mean like all big quads excluding minis or do you mean just 400 and higher?

I would call the Raptor 250 more a mid-size then full size. Those things are small compared to the full size. But in the mid-size they are the lightest. Any 450 out there would have to be weighed as company dry weights are known to be to accurate.

i would think the trx 250r would be the lightest Full size made...

it is quite a bit lighten than my YFZ...

Stock, I would agree on the Raptor 250.

DS-450 may be the lightest 450, but there really isn't any concrete info yet.

Lightest "Full sized performance quad", non-drag: TRX250R w/ Lonestars rare Titanium Frame. Not legal to race.

technicly, yes they are, "full size" is anything over a 90, thats why you need to be 16 to buy one

Most racers don't want to tell there quad weight......

I dont count Blasters or Raptor 250s, there not full size quads to me. My 14 year old cousin cant even fit on one.

I'm 6'2" and the Raptor 250 does not feel that small to me, it feels A LOT larger than it really is. It is nothing like a Blaster.

Manufacturers claimed dry weights are all different and they all measure differently. Most use simulation models in the computer software to generate a "theoretical" weight within the software. Input materials and let it calculate material used and it comes up with a weight. Most of them dont even include obvious things like gas, coolant, oil, and some dont even include shock fluids!

Also the lonestar titanium framed CRF pictured has Carbon looking plastic, its not really carbon fiber. That quad was around 325lbs if I remember correctly.

One thing we all need to remember, you can't ride a quad in the dry weight state, thus the weight is useless. I love how Honda now has curb weight and I hope the rest follow. The only mag I know that actually weighs quads for there shootouts is ATVSport. So hopefully they will have the next shootout with wet weights. The only thing about the Honda curb weights, they have not listed many yet. Still waiting on the 450R weight.

what exactly is the curb weight? is it just another name for wet/ready to ride weight, or something else?

Pretty much.

Curb weight in respect to auto is the weight of the vehicle with all coolants, oils, a full tank of gas and all "standard equipment" with no passengers or cargo.

I think ATV's should have a standard of their own. ATV w/ 2 quarts of oil, 2 gallons of fuel, and 2 quarts of coolant (if applicable), and all other liquids full (shock oil, brake fluids, etc.), also have a standard wheel/tire weight. This would not penalize for oversized radiators, oil reserves, or a good set of wheels/tires. All good for racing but bad for "weights".
