What is the best alternative for racing boots or is there one? I never had a problem when i raced dirtbikes with my boots, but i just have a real hard time on the quad. Shifting up is my only problem.

you could always try "half boots". i know thor has 50/50 boots that just come up to right above your ankle.

Try some of the hinged boots, such as SIDI Oxtar, or Gaerne.

Might be able to fix your shifter to your boot too....or just practice and pay attention to shifting.
I use the Thor boots....full length
Heard A-stars are the best though for comfort

Gaernes have an awesome amount of free movement, without compromising support in the least. Plus, their about as comfortable as boots can get.
Also, raise your shifter a spline or two...that helps tremendously.
Don't go with the half boots......serious lack of ankle support.
