I'd do it if you want a 2-stroke. Nice front suspension and some big power on that 250r. I don't know about getting a pinger over your thumper though. Good deal IMO though.:)

looks like a good deal if you like 2 strokes, but check the r over for any loose bushings or bearings in the a arms and swingarm and stuff this could tell you how hard it was ridden

thanks for the info, but my dad wont let me trade because he doesnt know who did the engine work and how well it was done.

Damn.

Its not that i dont like the 400ex, its a great fast bike..
But I got pretty good at riding my dads 55hp banshee and i just LOVE that 2-stroke hit. I generally like them more. But i guess ill just mod up the 400 for now. Thinkin of a hotcams stage 2 and 11.1 compression piston. The 400ex has been a good bike for me.

I'd love to do this kit servicehonda.com has:

yah 2 strokes are fun but some words of advice when u start hopping up ur ex motor, don't go to big cause they will blow and it's a kick in the balls when u put a whack of money into your motor u drive it twice and then it blows i know from experience it's not fun...

Well if you build the motor right it won't blow. I'd say go to a 416 11:1 piston hotcam stage 2 and port and polish. That is an excellent combo.

i say dont bore... the other day (yesterday) i raced a 450 jetted piped filter. this waas a longer race.. the kind were we bother were in 5th hit rev limiter. i killed him in the beggining but at the top of fifth he sllowly roled pass me.. you dont need to sacrifice your motor (bore) to be fast. just build it right and learn to ride. remember a atv is only as fast as the rider

yeah, engine work is no big deal for me.

My dad owns a machine shop, but has more knowledge about fixing stuff than some mechanics do.

Plus i watch him whenever he does stuff like that, i could prob. do it myself.

I might go 416, but i dont think i can spend the extra money for the bore. So i'll probably get the compression piston and my dads gonna lightly hone it. The bike still runs great, so no need for bore.

Ya always gotta ask yourself... Why does this guy want to trade???

well maybe he doesnt want a pinger, and he wants a trail thumper? Also, maybe its a 400ex because 450's are worth more than the 250r, so he probably cant afford em otherwise. Mine and his are about equal value, mine may be a little more.
