anyone have feedback on the R engine with the honda pilot 400cc cylinder grafted onto? how did it run? was it too much for a mx quad, and how reliable was it?

If you search on google you will find some answers. From what I could find out the work needed to get that cylinder on an R bottom end was pretty extensive. The case studs have to be moved and new metal has to be added to the cases around the base of the cylinder. General consesus from the people I talked to was that a well built Pro-X setup was just as fast and faster because of the more advanced porting and the ease of installing the kit. The old pilot cylinder was to dated and hard to fit onto the R bottom end to make it worth it. It was a popular mod back in the day when it was pretty much the only option. This is what I was told when I asked on another forum.

If your interested in doing something different a 400 Polaris Scrambler cylinder will go on an R bottom end a lot easier. Most of the work that is needed is to the acutal cylinder itself instead of the cases.

I would go for it the price is right. The company that used to do it built them as drag motors mostly but not all of them were. I cant remember the company though. This might help you out some.

Check FTZ racings site... I believe that they have a kit already done and some input on them.
