I was looking at a 250r with a big bore 310 racing kit and the guy was running race fuel in it or some other type of fuel I forget exactly what he said, I Know it wasnt regular gas and said it could run regular gas in it but he has NEVER run regular gas in it..I dont know if he is bsing me or not..He said it didnt hhave that much compression that it HAD to run race fuel...can someone answer this for me?

nobody can answer this question for you!!!

it depends on the compression of the engine, which is something YOU would have to check....

however, i dont know any of the builders who build a big bore to run on pump gas... some build to run on 100 octane, but....

just gotta check and find out...

ok what about this fuel, its called "100 lowlead" they are getting only 4.40 a gallon near me at the airport..Would that be good enough to run on a 310r?
thx

its av gas and thats what i run in my bikes...

however, without doing a compression test, it is still impossible to tell... its on a case by case basis...

310 on pump gas is fine. Going from 180 psi to 200+ I noticed only a small difference. So I went back because getting avgas was a pain.

how can you, or anybody else for that matter, say that?

for all you know he is running 220 psi, and that wont work too well with 91 octane...

i love how people give advice that could totally screw somebody over...

I run pump in my 310.

another thing, dont always go by the over 180 on the gage as a rule either. i had my motor ported and the ports were so high i couldnt trap enough air to get a reading over 175 with race gas dome that should of put me at 210. you need to listen to your engine for detonation.

Size of the motor makes no difference at all when it comes to octane!
It all depends on dome used/compression.
On a 310 with 27cc dome should be about 180-190lbs comp which would require 100 octane.
On a 310 with 30cc dome should be about 160-170lbs comp and pump would be fine!

what are you talking about doc?

my sister's baby's daddy's cousin's boyfriend runs his 310 on pump gas, so it must be ok for EVERYBODY to run pump gas in their 310s...

he needs to do a compression test and figure out what dome he has. don't be made when your r blows up your asking for it running pump gas. my r is with in the stock 250 with 173 compression and i run 93 with no problem.

i hope you realize that there was quite a bit of sarcasm thrown in there... if you'll check the 1st reply, i told him he needed to do a compression test long ago

I can say that. I didnt say my 310 is at 210psi running on pump.

i repeat- thats an idiotic statement! thats almost as bad as the retard that said its ok to run your radiator lines laying on top of the exhaust, cuz your exhaust only reaches 160 degrees...

Sure a 310 will run on pump gas. But it wont run long and it wont run to its full potential. If you or anybody else thinks that Av or race gas is a pain, just wait and see how big of a pain an exploded motor is.

I feel bad now. I was trying to say that its okay to run a bigger bore on pump if your compression is low. I went to a higher compression and only noticed a little improvement while using a high octane gas. I did not think it was worth it. Oh and I coil my radiator lines around my pipe so its like a heat exchanger.
