For the last three CRA harescrambles, I've left the 450R in the garage and broke out the 250R. The 450 has been giving me fits on the dead engine starts, being the last one off the line really sucks, especially with the dry dusty conditions around here. Here's some pics of the results of switching back to old reliable.

Jeez Rich, your cleaning house!! Nothing like getting your @ss handed to you on a brand new 450 by a guy riding what most people call an "antique." I love it, keep up the good work.:macho

Rich, after a little over a 2 years of building my Laeger 250R, I want to start racing next year. I'm wondering what class you race in, or does it matter in local harescrambles?

Do aftermarket frames make a difference?
And after racing both 450 and 250'rs do you think a hybrid would be a better choice?

I race Senior II, no restrictions on machine, so I'm up against everything imaginable. I don't think an aftermarket chassis is going to give you much of an advantage over a stock one, besides durability. Unless you've got a Pro-Trax. As far as a hybrid goes, the power of a 450 is nice to have sometimes, but the maintenence on the valve train is excessive. If you look at the pictures, I'm not giving up anything to the 450's there. The only place I really have to watch is the long, open field sections, some of the 450's will pull me on the longer ones. I can do well on my 450s, especially the '04, but when I get back on the 250R, I just feel like that's where I belong.

No, all MINE.:D I think I've sold thirty bikes and quads in the last ten years. Mostly stuff I've picked up to fix and resell or stuff that comes in for repair and the owners decide they don't want to sink the money into it. I think one of the best deals was a 450 Rebel my dad picked up at a garage sale for $350. It had 3000 miles on it and needed the carbs cleaned, a battery, and washed. It was MINT. Sold it for $1950. Nice profit.

I really not sure how to answer that. I feel it is, considering it's a stock pipe. My other Lonestar has a PT race pipe (mid-range)on it, it's much snappier than the quad with the stock pipe on it.
