I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion on what type of carb swap I should do for my 400ex. I have hard that the 450r is a good swap but I have heard nothing about other aftermarket carb. What are you best suggestions and why?

FYI it is a 416, 11:1. ported, stage 2 hotcam, k&N, BG slipon and jetted.

An FCR would probably be the best performing, but you really would not be able to tell much by seat of pants compared to the 450r carb. Pricey, but you just slap it on and tune it in.

The 450r carb is an excellent carb for the price, and is easy to install but probably requires the most work.

The Edelbrock is better than stock, but hard on the thumb (throttle doesn't stop until your thumb is WAY out) and not as well of a performer as the two mentioned above.

I have only had personal exeperience between the Edelbrock and 450r carb on the EX, and the 450r carb WAY outperformed the edelbrock, was smoother, and MUCH cheaper.
