do you think the double will happen anytime soon?

jesseweaver
10-30-2007, 07:07 PM
well it was 6 years between carey hart in 2000 and travis pastrana in 2006. Jon Guetter landed the flip in 2004 i think. i dont think it will ever happen, but then again if you told me in 2001 that someone would land a double backflip in 5 years i wouold have though you were crazy. i never thought it would be possible, so of course it could happen with quads, but im kinda doubting it. They havent really got to backflip variations yet, but you never know.

pharit

with that much weight coming around i don't think it would be possible.....but maybe.

i know when i fliped in to Kenny Bartrams pit i was jerking pretty hard and over rotated quite a bit.

But you'd have to go up pretty high....

but like stated above, if someone told me two years ago a double on a dirtbike would happen i would have laughed at you.

There are several now have landed the backflip into foam pits but not so many to dirt or a landing ramp. VARIATIONS......are coming, you may be surprised as to how soon. Thats all I can say.

if you watch this video on austin wilson's youtube account, colton moore is trying some variations into the foam pit. and he easily gets them rotated enough. http://youtube.com/watch?v=MmVKw06Ztyw

pharit

he also broke both his legs doing some of that stuff too.....:eek2:

jesseweaver
10-31-2007, 04:08 PM
yea, but he didnt brake his legs on a backflip variation. does anyone have any pictures of that grab bar thing he did before he broke his legs? or better yet, does anyone have it on video? (the trick part, not the broken legs part)

I remember the first time Pastrana done a backflip on a bike.... Casey was young, he turned around and said wouldn't it be cool if someone could backflip a quad. I laughed and said your crazy! Little did I know he would do one himself one day. Now, I'm the crazy one. lol

Austin,

Is there anyway you could post the dimensions of the ramp you guys are flipping off of? I've been on an autocad spree and I'm just looking for some ramp designs to sketch.

Btw, when can we see a flip out of you huh? Looks like you had it down in the youtube vid of you caleb and colten. :p

crane is up!! and the landing should be done tomorrow!! we are doing a lil party/show thing on sunday

I have been flipping for the past two days in the pit and i feel really confident with it now. I can over rotate the heck out of it now and also time it and pitch the nose in where i want. started trying a few variations also but nothing to realy brag about yet. If i get the chance i might think about flipping to dirt on sunday but i make no promises!!

Looks like you had it down in the youtube vid of you caleb and colten. :p my flip was terrible in that video! that was my first time to go in the pit after working on it all day. my weight went forward because I pulled to soon and i stalled the rotation but still pulled it around. we are flipping off a super kicker, colten and I and caleb can flip off an aussie comp and and Rev 2 for the 75 ft flip but he likes the rev 2 better. plans are all over the net just look around, there have been some up on this forum numerous times. I thought it used to be a sticky?

landing didnt get finished today. need to bring in more dirt to finish the massize wall.

but I did get trya 75ft flip today off a comp ramp and i pulled it around on my first try! I was stoked on that. Caleb is fine tunning an under flip also. He might actually be able to pull one off somehow. I would have video but our buddy took off with the camera so you might have to wait till next week!

75 ft on your first flip? isnt it harder on longer distances? anyways, congratulations

I have a bunch of bent rails for a rev. 2 . I'd love to sell some, or build a whole ramp if some one could afford it, and come pick it up. I have a blue powder coated trailor rev 2 I might sell too. I really want a freeride, but after hearing that you guys are flipping a rev.2 at 75 ft, I might keep it around if I ever get some foam pit time.

I like flipping off the comp ramp better than the super kicker, it is a lot smoother but it is alot harder also! you have alot less room for error!

What about the rev.2 ? Thats gotta be between the super kicker and the aussie.

QuadR8cer12
12-24-2007, 11:50 AM
you cant compare a rev 2 to be similar to a kicker at all. I kicker is like hitting a wall. a rev 2 just has a lil more pop than an aussie comp ramp does, thats the only difference. the aussie is a smooth constant radius and the rev 2 has a lil different transition in it giving it more pop

Aussie, if your flipping of of the trailer ramp, it's a freeride, not a rev2. And you piss me off. Just thought I would let you know that. Must be rough to spend days on end in the pit. Asses!!!

yeah thats what we where flipping off of, i could have sworn caleb was calling it a rev 2.

This was the first weekend that I was able to go in the pit alot instead of working all day long then jumping in two times before dark!! lol

I've practiced a few days in november, but haven't had time to go back since. I pulled them around off the superkicker just fine, even did a couple one handers. Just need another week do work on it and get it off of the comp ramp. Hopefully soon!!

Looks damn good Ben!

Now if only the 'rents would soften up and left me build a pit in the 2 acre lot next to my rental house we'd be in business haha.

Austin - That kicker is ridiculous. Why not have a more smooth transition like the ramps Jon first used? Or were they the same thing?

QuadR8cer12
12-26-2007, 09:35 PM
we have my ramp but we use that for people that have never flipped before because it helps get your timing and confidence down. I have not hit that ramp in a while

the superkicker we flip off all the time is the ramp jon used to flip off of before he went to flipping a comp ramp

I did this at the "cowboys" pit

next time you get to flip try not to let your body go forward so much on the bike. we have found out that if you pull to early it throws your body forward like that. you have to wait until the last possible second to pull and it wont throw your body forward, you will be in the middle of the bike like ben is. this will help you rotate easier, smoother, and free up your body position for variations
