400ex decompresser

is it really necessary to use it, mine went s-house and the only way to get a new one is to buy a new cam from Honda, I run a TC cam and don't need a stock cam, I have a 12.5 to 1 comp ratio, can I get it to start easily without the decompresser?

I don't know if it's neccessary on the TC cam which I belive is a rewelded stock cam but i'm sure someone will be willing to sell thier old stock cam for the lobe if that's what went bad.
