Round #11 for the Youth racers in the GNCC has to be a killer. Everyone is back in school, routines are different and there is that always nagging voice (Mom) asking if your homework is done:p I am figuring this was a major factor in a lower Youth turnout, but for those that made the trip had a well laid out course to assault. At just under 5 miles, and with less entries, getting into lapped traffic would be a non issue for most, and the cooler temps would help the little guys ride harder for the hour long event.

Hunter Dalrymple was ready to go as the shadows still enveloped the starting area at the 8 am start

Michael Spalding made the switch to the Cobra and has been working out the issues everyone faces when running a new machine. He was looking forward to gettimng a good run in at Yadkinville

Austin Findley is having a decent season, however I am certain he would rather be running for the win each round then settling for the top 10 finishes he has been posting. Running the TRX90 was once the ticket, but running down the Cobra quads is proving to be very difficult, easpecially with courses that for the most part are wide open. My suggestion, split the 90 mod class.

Jerry Welch, once pounding on the competition aboard a well prepped Polaris was sitting on the line on a Cobra this round. I did not get a chance to ask him or his crew if this would be a permanent change or a one race deal however.

At one point this season, the question was put forth as to who could mount a challenge to Dylan Bradford. That is now answered in the form of Joshua Merritt.

With the riders on the line, it was time for everyone to get ready for 1 hour of pint size mechanical madness<----I have been helping my youngest son study haha:blah:

90 Mod fired off the line and rocketed around the first turn. Without number plates I can't define who grabbed the holeshot, but they instantly had Merrit breathing down their neck!

Bradford and Harris quickly slipped in behind Merrit

90 Limited 11-15 was the next row to get the green flag and head for turn one. Hayden Hayes leads a hard charging Cheyanne Shadron into turn two

As if turn two wasn't exciting enough, Branson Solesbee set his Honda on it's side as the rest of 90 Limited scoots around him

90 Mod 8-10's Derec Robinson runs wheel to wheel out of turn two with the black Apex rider. They exited turn two in the same fashion!

Brayden Schick laid down one awesome run to the first turn, pitching it sideways and rolling on the throttle as he pointed his Apex towards turn two!

With much of the youth track run in shadow of the morning sun, I headed off to the woods to try and get these guys in their element.

The first riders to greet me the woods was the 70 CVT class, and Schick was still out front and riding smooth

Allie Slate has been busting chops all season, handing her male counterparts butt kickin's at each event. She wasn't far off Schicks grab bar when the pair passed me!

Michael Spalding had been fighting a rear brake issue on his machine and it reared it's ugly head during ths race. Spalding would only complete 3 laps at todays event

Tyler McConnaughey may be learning the ropes, but has asking for help down pat! When the low ground clearence machine hung up on some exposed roots, the little voice asked ever so politley for my assistance. I was happy to help and glad to see you ride away with a thank you coming from under that little helmet:D

Seth Mumford has officially paid his dues, having one of the worst streaks of bad luck with his machine I have seen. Now, the hard work is paying off as he and the podium have become good friends the past few rounds!
