i will be getting my liscense pretty soon, and i am still looking for a vehicle, and will most likely get a truck so i can take the quad around. i was also thinkin about getting an SUV and taking the trailer. i need suggestions of a good vehicle. i want and suv or truck that is fairly cheap (around 6000) and is very reliable. i also want something that gets good gas milage. i was thinking of a ford explorer or an older f150, but dont know too much about either. ive been looking for vehicles, but wasnt having much luck finding anything nice for that price. i was also thinking about getting a car to drive to work and school and stuff, and getting a cheap truck to take the quad on. does that sound like a good idea?

I have a '97 F-150 4X4 ext cab with the 4.6 (V8), might be a little above your price range, and I love it...........except for the atrocious gas milage. With normal driving I can see about 12 mpg. One time I drove for max milage (never reved above 1700rpm!) and I still got sub 15 mph.

On the other side of the mpg talk, it is one of the most predictable vehicles to slide which is a good thing in the winter for safety and fun purposes.

i had a 1992 GMC sierra single cab swb for my first truck and I loved it. It got pretty decent gas mileage for what it was. It had a 4.3v6 with a 5 spd. I loved it so much about 4 months ago i purchased it back from a friend of mine :)

5.9 cummins, or gas. The cummins would get great mileage via the diesel engine.;) :)

you get such bad milage because you have a small motor in a big truck. the motor has to work hard to get the truck moving. mi get 14mpg with my 5.9L 360 gas motor.

96-98 Chevy Silverado 1500. They got the great votec motors in them and are great on gas 15-17 mpg, and thats only when i drive it hard id imagine it gets almost 20 if you drive it right
