will a 250x crank work in a 300ex motor?

no, different bearing ID's and rod length to start.

rod length makes no difference. all a 300ex is is a stroked 250x. idk about the bearings, but but the stroke is shorter. he jsut has a good 250x motor, but wants the 300ex e-start. any way you can put the 300ex e-start on teh 250x or put teh 250x crank in the Ex bottom end?

Not within reason.
The cranks are not interchangable. One of the few thaings that aren't.

The best and cheapest bet would be to just swap complete bottom ends out.

Honestly though, I'd rather keep the 250x bottom end.

If oyu swap out the bottom ends you will ahve to also swap out the wire harness and CDI.

I'm sure what he meant to say is that the 250x vs. 300ex rod length vs. stroke match up perfectly to where the piston at TDC is in the same location.

Aka the 300ex has an 8.2mm longer stroke w/ a 4.1mm longer rod.
