My current setup:
400ex -
slip-on exhaust (scorpion, race use only (no spark arrester))
stage 1 hot cam
11:1 wisco
jetted stock carb
open air box
cdi box

- btw i recently learned that my bike does not run well on 87octane. just a lil' fyi..

my question: is it worth me upgrading to an 450r carb? considering if i do i will put a complete exhaust system (headers and all). i have no intentions of boring or port n polish at this time. simply, will i see an increase in proformace with the 450r crab? or is it to much for my lil' basically stock 400ex?

thanks for you time.

On the stock bore and with the basic mods you have I would stick with the stock carb. JMO

yeah i ran my 400ex accidently on 87 octane instead of my usual 93 octane and it bogged so much and what not. Ran like shat. I hit 3rd gear and it felt like it didnt move lol. It putted and ran terrible on 87.

It'd be the 11:1 piston that doesn't like the 87 octane...

I'd imagine you'd see a decent difference with the 450R carb.

Btw I run 87 octane with a pipe, air filter and hotcam stage 1 with no problems.(it's also jetted correctly)
