ok so i want to get a mustang for my first car and i was wondering if any one on here has one(which people probly do)if they can tell me how much insurance they pay on it...idk if it makes a difference but im only 16 and turning 17 when janurary rolls around

what year model cobra? I got my 2001 GT when I was 19 and it was $280 a month on me. Depending on what year model cobra you want to get is on the price of your insurance, but I can promise you, you will pay a pretty penny on insurance since your only 16/17.

2. There is no way you will be able to pay for insurance under your parents name or not.
3. Almost everyone crashes their first car. Now do you want to spend all that money and crash it?
4. Get something that is around 5 grand to start out with and LEARN how to drive.
5. You will be paying about 4 grand or more to the insurance company.
6. Just wait a few years. Mustangs arent going anywhere trust me.

My brother who is 21 pays around $2500 a year for his stang. its a 98' 8cyl manual. He hates the thing, and cant wait for the day he gets rid of it. He says its nothing but a piece of junk, and would never recommend one to anyone unless it was a 2001 or newer.

Lets start with the original question how many people here actually OWN one, and what insurance is around.

I myself own a 97 cobra(that id be more than happy to show a BMW a thing or two on the road or strip) and Full coverage insurance for me with next to nothing deductables is 92 a month. Im married and 25 though.

And any car can be junk if its not maintained or if its beat to snot when/was driven. Cant blame that on the car or make. And one Key comment to remember, "Every car is junk when its broke no matter what brand, or you dont have the money to fix it up"(if that makes sense)

yea maybe after tons of money spent to make a mustang handle like a bmw. Mustangs are old technology and dont perform no where close to a bmw how do american manufactures make 8 cylinder engine and only get 300hp when european cars have 6 cylinders and can make well over 300hp because american cars dont have any technology thats why. for $1800 in suspension mods that mustang will walk all over a bmw, it doesnt take much if you know what to buy. And the power, a ton of v8's are detuned from the factory and are more econimcal than performance. It take minimal mods to put a 5.0 in the 12's even 11's as long as the rear end is built and a good tranny. Yea mustangs do have old technology, but what they have does work when you know how to use it. A bmw is more for luxury than anything IMO and all i see paying for is the name, I can go buy a 03 cobra with very few mods and walk circles around bmw's its just that easy and IMO have a better looking car. Its my personal preference so it really doesnt matter. I like having american muscle, you like german, simple as that.

a mustang cobra is nothing to think about. my lincoln will kick the carp out a 79-98 cobra. my car has the first cobra mod motor. a tuned 4.6 mod motor is nasty. once i get a chip( tune the motor for a super charger) and a full exhaust plus some 4.10s its goin to make anything look stupid.

my pretty much stock GT will outrun a 96-98 cobra since those are the first years they came with the 4.6 in them. Its the 03/04's you have to watch out for. I know quite a few people that have the same car you do that are pretty sick but they are way to heavy.

cobras are sweet. i am betting that most of you have never worked on bmw. i have worked on bunch of the and all i have to say is ouch. they are such a pain in the butt to work on it is rediculas (sp). yeah bmws are nice and there quick and handle well but i would rather have a stang.

back to the thread, your insurance would be way to high. i pay 1800 a year for my truck. i dont even want to think about how much my insurance would be if i had a stang but they are so nice, especially the 03 cobras :D

Please read this first sentence off a "pony car" search on wikipedia:

To me that means that they are sports cars. A sports car is normally a 2door coupe. They will always be classified as sports cars. Wipikedia doesnt consider a mustang and such sports cars but it considers honda civics sports cars since they are lighter. cobra R has 370 or so hp stock. 03/04 cobra has around 365rwhp stock, pumping much more than your precious M3. Then for $1000 you can have it pumping out 500rwhp, now do that with your M3 then get back to me, and the 03/04 cobra has a suspension set up for auto-x so it would be a contender.

how about you go drive an 03/04 cobra before you start downing mustangs. Im sure you have no clue how they handle, their power, etc. BMW's are nice cars if you want luxury, but I can promise you, there is a TON of mustangs that will stomp a mud hole in a M3 and walk it dry

03/04 cobras come with independent rear set up for auto-x sounds like a good stock suspension to me. Also they come with more than that stock in power. Seems like a good deal to me

dude 07 350z makes 305hp, maybe 250rwhp. The cobra R is N/A and is a 5.4. Just because it says 420hp, doesnt mean its 420actual hp. It may be only around 350rwhp or so going through the drivetrain, depending on how much restriction is in BMW's drivetrains.

when your older and wise up im telling you right now your going to laugh at those kids in their mustangs. And when you realize that its not about what everyone else thinks about your car, its what you think about your car. You'll be laughing with me because then you will understand, that they first looked at that mustang because everyone else has one.

When i drive my fathers porsche, i laugh when kids in their mustangs come up to me and rev the piss out of that 4.6, do i race them, nope. Will they beat me, very possible. And as they drive away, i can tell you exactly what they are chuckling about.
