picked up an 06 dr-z400s...got a VERY good deal on it...thing is a ton of fun. i got my bike permit, taking the msf this winter so i can be legal for the spring....that being said i already threw 200 miles on it from riding through the feilds(on the stock street tires...scary lol) and the backroads.

it was 100% stock so i immediatly removed a ton of useless crap that added extra weight and looked gay. i plan on getting knobbies asap along with a small rear tailight and blinker setup. eventually an exhaust, 3x3 mod, rejet, velcro seal savers to replace the ugly fork boots and some handguards too.

check her out

i ripped off the reflectors, bar end weights, passenger seat strap, fender bag,cut the tail, rubber footpeg inserts, flipped the front blinker mounts and threw on a barpad

nice sm!! i actually reconize the red fender,,,,, most likely seen the bike on supermotojunkie.

deathwings gotta go asap lol!! knobbies will be the first mod

i put 150miles of just riding back and forth through the local feilds and backroads and i had some "oh *****" moments in the dirt with the crappy tires but didnt lay her down....they arent bad at all on the road though.

its funny, with the stock exhaust the wind is wayy louder after like 40mph,,,definitly need to throw an exhaust on it.

overall, im def. happy with the decision, its a funnnn bike!

Nice bike, I want one so bad. Me and some freinds where in the local riding spot taking a break, then we hear a loud fourstroke and all of sudden this guy come on a ktm dualsport bike, hits the jumps, and hops on the rode and rode home

ive already scoped out some urban launches that will have to be taken care of.......im a former bmx rider so i have the eye for "street spots" haha.

i was going to get a ktm actually, but the drz is SO much more reliable, didnt feel like doing the constant oil change and valve adjustments thats a ktm needs, especially when i plan on using the bike ALOT to get to and from school and to get around town. 55+ mpg sounds damn sexy to me when i drive a v8 truck.

just gotta get her on the road, get her insured, and get my license and ill be good to go for the spring..

i know when i get the bike on the road and insured, i will definitly have to pay the extra for theft because all it takes it 2 guys and a truck or van and its gone in 20 seconds.

Man, I want one. How bad is the insurance on these things anyway?

yeah but crotch rockets do like 185+ mph, and dirt/street bikes do like 85 mph . what do you think will cost more in insurance

Good point...I always thought it would be higher b/c of a bike having just less protection compared to a car in an accident. :ermm: Thats just hear-say I guess.

http://i20.tinypic.com/in8m7d.jpg thats what i ultimatly wanted, but i got the drz for too good of a deal to pass up..

i would LOVE that ktm, but they do require alot more maintenance than the drz, and arent really meant to be ridden on the street much, although many people say they do without any problems.

just got done ordering my kenda k270 knobbies front and rear, gonna order up a drc edge smoked lense tailight with some smoked lense flush mount rear blinkers. gonna get some ken shaun folding mirrors and some handguards for my b-day this month, and then all ill need is the pipe,3x3,and rejet and it will be ballin'

im hoping the knobbies make it better offroad, cause then it truly would be an AWSOME bike

Here's my XR400. Insurance is only $100 for the year. Its pretty sweet riding the highway and then hitting the back roads and trails all in one trip.
