Here pictures of whats out today over here in the U.K, the 08 model ProShark RMX, pretty good comes standard with Case Saver, Slipper Sprocket,Nerf Bars, Red Frame on Black Models, retails at £1995 pretty good value out of the box ! Lot of extra stuff there to save the gearbox, we run gears out of another model that are a lot stonger so we don't need the 'extra' stuff, because we don't break them ! See what you think.

something new to look at, something else would look good on the ProShark to, can you see what ? And they will fit.

Rod,

Those are some great lookin quads, I love the stock frame color of the Pro shark. Wish we could get that frame color stock over here in white plastics the Pro shark would look like a YFZ.

Cool pics. I'm all ears on the gears though.

How the heck are you not breaking gears? 2 races and we are changing gears.

Need to install a trans bushing and a transmission saver kit, to help with the problem. I dont care what set of gears you run untill you support the shaft of the main gear you will be breaking gears.

Hi Chad & Jay, nice to hear from you again, will speak soon but for now, in answer to some questions
no we do NOT run the saver kit nor the slipper sprocket, my lad ran the same gears for 12 months, only problem we had was wearing on the tip of the gears, but still didn't break them, they kind of bent over slightly ! Just one point I need to make is my lad does Hare Scrambles (Enduros) these may not be as furious as QuadX but they are an hour and a half long, not 12 mins, over varying land so we still get jumps and skitty land to race on, anyway the gearboxes still get as much hammer as on the QuadX rounds, oh and it kicks out 12.7 h.p!
One team rider broke one set of gears last year but he did win the QuadX championship and this was up against a load of ProSharks. We sell the gearboxes to replace the Apex (ProShark) gearbox, since the Case Saver kits came out over here we obviously have sold alot less, one problem we found is people doing their chains too tight !
This is the quad my lad races

I hope this helps 'some' people achieve what we are not supposed to achieve with a 'scooter' engine that normally drives one wheel !
Fantastic reports off my friend that had the ProShark (Apex) last friday, he has run Malossi gear and barrels but he said 'if these Quads had come out of the box like this 2 years ago he could have saved a load of money !! Really IMPRESSED by it all,
Any further info please ask,
Rod

Rod,
That is one fine mini, I like the set up on that machine.

I agree we have never broke a set, in one year of MX,TT and flat track racing. We teach our riders to let off untill they feel the mini land then hard back onit. WE may have just got lucky. But we have all the mods done as a precaution.

Is that a dolphin in the pics? I know you guys can build a fast nice mini :D

OK I ll be the one to ask, what are the gears from and can ya give us some pictures .

That is the Dolphin DN100 tweaked a little ! there must be a clue somewhere here ?
I notice on your forums over there that very little is on for the Unison, this Quad is far better than people think, alot stronger than your Apex in some areas and many times class winners, but when you get something reliable why tell everybody about it, then they would all enjoy finishing a race, but, I did say even a QuadX champion can break it sometimes, once! I am a little bias towards the Dolphin as we have raced one for nearly 2 years competitively possibly not the best rider out there but one who 'knew' his Quad and knew how to make it last, not bad for a 12 year old kid, keep off the throttle when in the air and watch those chains, change the oil every meeting. Perhaps we just been lucky but after reading all the time about gearboxes it still ends up to the rider to ease off.
One dad has put 5 yes 5 gearboxes in his kids ProShark now he has fitted a Dolphin one the kid has finished 3 meetings with no problems, as I say just lucky. Worth looking at ?

everyone keeps talking about the proshark not the MX. Doesnt the mx have alot more power and thus the problem. we dont have problems with the drr until we add alot more power.

But im with the rest do tell more about those gears. and were to get them.

Ken, he is talking about the Proshark across the water which is the Pro MX here. That is the same as the Dolphin across the water which is the Unison here. Hint Hint

Hi Chad, more words !!
I can only assume that the Unison is the same build as our Quad over here so, it works fine for us but, remember each rider is different! Remember, more air looks good = lost time and harder landings = more snap on the drive = Gearboxes !
Build your motors not to 'fly' but to drive when on the ground. I have seen 'ported' engines, flowed carters, etc,etc , full circle cranks are good too, oh and swirled heads, high compression heads too, spacer plates, you name it I have seen it but nothing impresses me more than a kid that knows his quad and rides it with respect, ' instal' that into our Racers and watch them use the power that they can feel, thats when it works and the quad comes in at the end of the race in one piece, after an hour and a half of Enduro riding on undulating natural terrain at speeds I wouldn't like to do but I let my 12 year old son do! (work that one out). We build for reliability and power (54 x 47 FC), ran 13h.p all year dropped down to 12.7 but our gearbox is still fine, and we finished every meeting, ended up 3rd in Championship, team mate with same h.p ended up 2nd but finished every meeting, gearbox fine, the 'girl' that won the series kicks out 11 h.p (on a ProShark) but with our gearbox in, still fine, oh, she proved a point that with EMC shockers you can ride faster, not always power, get suspension right first. I hope this helps a few out there
Regards Rod :) :)

Morning all
And now to add a little snippet, the next shipment of ProShark MX's due over here in December are apparently fitted with an Aluminium Radiator similar to the DRR liquid cooled.
Some kids over here are having some fantastic results on the Enduro scene with standard out of the box quads ! Also I have been told that more accessories will soon be available over here for the DRR, as in interchangeable heads like the Apex mx, interesting, these are made in Taiwan, plus some different gears, I cannot get any more info out of the importer on that subject yet but wait and see, full list to be sent out in late January?
Regards for now

Go with either Apex or DRR over the 90 typhoon.

jaksdad

Yes definitely, the Apex or the DRR only 2 worth considering, we used to threaten our kids over here that if they didn't start behaving then we would buy them one of those quads, they soon towed the line. Haha !! We used to call them the Butterfly bike due to rear wings flapping everywhere 'before' the brackets broke !!
You get what you pay for !
