question about photoshop program

i heard about a program that is similar to photoshop but can be downloaded for free.. i think its called GIMP...has anyone used this before or know anything about it

I have used GIMP on Linux. I am in no means a photo editor, but I did get it to do all that I needed it too.

Plus it is free.... So you can't beat that.
