Hey guys Ive decided im going to build a hybrid. I have already gotten most everything I think I need. This is what i have > PRP 250r no link frame somewhat modded to accept a yz426f motor. With a flip up subframe
A yz426 motor > it fits in the frame
now but this is where i started to run into troubles. The oil tank will not fit between the head pipe an frame. I believe its a 400ex tank. I tried to see if a yfz tank will fit in there. Also doesnt look like it will fit. But i was thinking about one of the DRD wet sump conversion kits to totally eliminate the oil tank. Im very meticulus when it comes to maintence so more frequent oil changes wouldnt be a problem for me.
next question is about the intake. One came with the frame its some big rad hose an pvc piping to an air box, when the rad hose is clamped to the carb it seems to be quite a bit of pressure the easily pop the carb off its boot. I have seen some ideas but i dont know if i want to get into cutting an welding the frame comprimising the strength. But i have to do that anyways since the guy who had the frame previous to me had a slack *** head stay fabbed up. Just a piece of flat bar butt welded to the frame with some tabs. I haev a piece of tubing made up to fit above the head that i will make some tabs to match up tot he head.

next I have some 400ex gibson a-arms. Will the 250r spindles work with the arms? or do I have to go all 400ex parts now.

hah i think thats all for now. Any advice to point me in the right direction for this build would be awesome.

i had the same problem with our hybrid. i put the motor and radiator in. then i built a mock oil tank out of cardboard. i bought some aluminum plate off ebay then took the plate and cardboard oil tank to a welder. he built me a tank like the cardboard one i mocked up. i will see if i can find a pic.

You only want the wet sump kit if you only race. When you make a yz into a wet sump it needs oil changes every 30 mins. With a oil tank every 5 hours and oil filter every 10 hours.

Also on a dry sump system (oil tank) you have a larger oil reserve.
And can be tied in with an oil cooler.

Well looking at the frame I cannot notch the rear for the intake just the way the rear shock supports are welded in.
But one of ss440ex 's oil tanks look like they will fit in the frame fairly good.

If need be, I can do a tank that is shorter/longer/thinner in an certain area...

if you want to run 250r spindles on a gibson arm setup you have to run a 3+2 wheel to fit right. They are made to run 400ex spindles with 4+1 which will handle better and be stronger. I made a pretty decent drop piece for my intake to go under my lsr frame no link. I can get pics if you want. It doesn't stress out at all it uses a cr500 boot, then I bought a jrd no link airbox and fabbed that to fit well.

This is the rear caliper. I tried to mount that up, but the bolt holes on the calpiper didnt match up the ones on the caliper mount plate. Do different year 250r's have different brake set ups, or could the caliper plate be from a 400ex or something else?

400ex front hub? It fit the ex spindles i have but it came from a 250r spindle. Im guessing they are the same?
