is there any possible way to replace the balljoint in stock a-arms on a 400ex?i have one just starting to go bad and really dont have the money at the moment to start replacing a-arms.

It has been done but the person who did would not do it for anyone else.

i see. so i guess asking where to get the replacment ball-joint is useless

From what I understand the old ball joints were cut off and holes were drilled through the a-arms to accept a removable style ball joint.

That's pretty much all I know about the topic.

the OEM joints are not replacable as stated. the a-arms can be modded to accept aftermarket and is easier to do on the 400ex as opposed to the 250R due to the fact that the tubing is a bit larger in the ball joint area on the 250r where special reducing collars need to be machined.

its not all that hard to do but, you must have the proper tools to do it "right".

i've done the mod to a couple of 250r's but never on a 400ex.

if you have the means and are capable of performing the task. ts well worth the effort in the long run. if you are up to it i can furnish a few pics.:cool:

check out ebay for a whole new set of used arms. I've seen used ex arms for like $25. It's pretty easy to replace the arms anyway....probably easier than trying to replace a bushing that isn't meant to be replaced.

thanks for all the info but i ended up getting a steal on some +2 a-arms.

right on. your better off with those anyways. the OEM 400ex are too narrow to begin with. :cool:
