WOULD BUILIDING A HYBRID REALLY BE WORTH IT FOR TRAIL RIDING? would building a hybrid using the 400f engine be a good set up for just trail riding and maybe a few harescrambles. i was thinking of useing etheir 250r or 400ex frame. i would more then likley leave the engine stock. would it even be worth it? i see the engines are really cheap now about the same price of 400ex engines.

i have the chance to pick up a 400ex that needs a new top end and clutch for about 800 bucks. it has works front shocks and a sparks pipe comes with stock shocks and stock pipe. i figured instead of rebuilding the engine and putting a new clutch in i would sell the 400 engine on ebay. and buy a yz 400 or 426 engine and install it.

i have the genral know how on fabricating, and jb racing is about a mile from my house. what do you guys think. does any one run the 400 or 426 setup for what i would like to do? how does the power compare to a 400ex, z400?

i really just want a mild reliable trail bike with out buying a 450 just yet. i would of course build this project over the course of time as i got money in to spend. i think if i buy that 400 it would be my best bet do to the fact its a roller and my time and money would go into getting the motor mounted.

thanks for your time and input.

if u could get the engine cheap, it definately would be worth it. the engines are alot more fun then a 400ex. contact ss400ex (sp?). he sells kits to make the swap easy as hell. PM he'll fill u in on the whole swap.
