Does anyone have or know of anyone who makes some sort of spine protector? I have seen 661's and Alpinestars, but when I check them out they are still completely flexible and I really don't think they would do anything to help me. After breaking my back last Thanksgiving, every time I get on my quad now I still have this fear in the back of my head. If I could get some sort of support I think might actually help, hopefully that fear will go away and I can ride with more confidence like I used to... =[

I can get on my bike and still ride pretty well, but when I get on my quad I feel different...

So does this exist??

I keep reading around and searching on Google... Has anyone heard of Knox back protectors? They are from the UK and geared more towards streetbikes... but I don't see why they wouldn't work in the dirt.

I too am interested in this. I am recovering from 6 broken bones in my back from a race couple months ago. Since then I started looking for better back protection. So far I have seen Thor and Fox make something that looks good. I was at a race last Friday night, a riding was wearing the Fox gear. The part on the back covers the whole back. It is articulated for movement. I was told the price on it was about $100. I have seen the one from Thor on the Rocky Mountain web site for $130.

Yeah, I definitely have been looking at different ones for awhile now... I had Thor's higher end chest protector on during my accident and cracked it in 3 places. I think that saved me more than anything... I am just wondering if there is something that could possibly have helped prevented my back injury even more. I see the Leatt neck brace for neck injuries, is there anything of such good quality and R&D for back protection? I don't care what the price is.

I've got this one made by Dainese. I like it except it's hot when it's warm out.

I really like that one. Also, I know Dainese makes great products. I think I'm going to order the same one. And you use this in the dirt too right? I also have a streetbike so I would use it for that as well. =]

I've used it for street and dirt. It's very high quality. The "waistband" part also doubles as a kidney belt. It's a big, wide velcro strap that provides a lot of support. I broke my back once and started wearing it after that, both for the protection and the lower back support. I don't wear it much anymore. Prolly should though.

Dianese is expensive gear but it tends to have everything--quality, style, function, comfort, etc. I've got a Dainese jacket that is the best motorcycle jacket I've ever owned.

Dunno. I'm always suspicious of info that's coming from someone that wants to sell you their product.

Their back protector appears to be a copy of the Dainese Backspace 2 (the one above).

Maybe it's just as good. I don't know. It does cost less.

I just ordered the Velocity from squidbusters with a discount. $75... free shipping. Hopefully it works out and I get it quickly! I read a ton of great reviews about it. =] Thanks for your help though.
