got a set of used pro tapers and it just dont seem to have enough room for the throttle and the brake perch

It almost fit, but the brake lever is at a slight angle, I can ride like this it just feels funny

is there an easy fix ? maybe a diff throttle or brake set up ?

here are a few pics to show what I mean

the brake perch is pushed as tight as it will go

I didnt really want to cut the grip, I can prob push it into the grip another 1/4 to 3/8 but it is already smashing into it

I ran into the same problem when I bought bars for my '07 450R.
I've always run Tags, so I bought a set of those, and there wasn't enough room. I measured my bars on my '04 and my 250R and the mount area was longer than the new set. I called Tag direct and they said this was a change they felt was needed. I went to alot of local dealers with a tape measure in hand and I couldn't find anything long enough. I finally called Pro-Taper and they gave me the measurements for their Contour ATV bars, and there's plenty of room on them. If yours aren't ATV bars, this is why you're having trouble.

switch to a 400ex throttle...it is smaller and should give ya some more room, it is also easier on the thumb

There is a piece on the throttle that sticks out against the brake perch. I just shaved this down a little and it gave plenty of extra room on my bars. I'm not even sure why the piece is there???

The 06 & Newer don't have that little piece the sticks out. Only the older throttles do. I have a 400EX Throttle and a Tokyo Mods FCR Spring For Sale if you would be interested

those make sooo much of a difference towards reducing the stiffness of the throttle...you will wonder how you ever rode on the stock throttle in the first place

I quoted the wrong person. I did this to mine right when I bought new moose handlebars back in 05. Duhhhh, my bad.
