i just ordered a universal houser anti-vibe oversized handle bar clamp and i was wonderin how hard they are to install? i've never put one on before.

just pull the handlebars off. then loosen the bolts on the clamps on the underside of the stem and they should come right off. new ones go on the same way the old ones came off just take the steps backwards:cool:

yea thats what i thought. i've put aftermarket handlebar clamps on before but one of my friends is full of sh*t and told me that anti-vibe clamps are diff.

well no offense but you guys were wrong. the yfz's steering stem has its stock handlebar clamps welded onto the steering stem. now im thinkin about cutin the welded steering clamps off and adding an inch to my stem while im there. my question is how hard is it to weld chromeoly tubing? i could tig weld it if i have too.

it's not that big of a deal. i think im just going to buy one of those 70$ houser steering stems instead of hacking mine all up. what are your guys's thoghts on that?

that would be you best best cause after you heat up the metal welding it it will change the physical properties of the metal and could very well be weaker in the spot and could break so if a stem is only 70$ id say just buy the stem and save yours as a spare or try to sell it to get some of you money back.
