His name is Riley Bragg, he was shot today by his father who was showing him a hand-gun, he's in the hospital right now, he was shot in the chin and the bullet hit his spine, he's paralyzed from the neck down, PLEASE say a prayer for him

we can only hope that the paralyzing is only temporary.

I feel bad for the father especially. The only question i have, is why it wasn't unloaded. But this has nothing to do with our right to bear arms, this was an accident.

my prayers go out

By that logic, we shouldn't have the right to own step-ladders, swimming pools, or live in any area of the country that might develop ice on the sidewalks.

Sorry to hear about the accident.

They don't, it's called negligence. There's a valuable lesson to be learned from this. Always treat every firearm like it's loaded.

agreed.. i generally have more to say about who should and who shouldnt have firearms, but it doesnt help the son or father now.

i can only hope modern medical science helps him and the paralysis is temporary..

the dad must be completely beside himself.. i wish him the strength to carry on and not let this drag him down. accidents are accidents.

My prayres are with both of them. I can't imagine the crap dad is taking from mom right now.

For all we know he could have been showing him how to unload the gun and something slipped, etc..

Accidents do happen, even when every precaution is taken.

Of course you can also do it right 9,999 times. It only takes once.

I am totally devistated, he died today :(

Spinal fluid got into his brain, they had to drill a hole in his Temple area and drain the fluid, he was on lifesupport because he could not breathe for himself. He has no brain activity right now but he's still on life support, but he's dead... he's an organ donor, they just need his organs so they're keeping him "alive" until a few hours.

Yesterday he was doing semi-okay, he opened his eyes three times, but couldn't talk, he opened his eyes the longest when his uncle said "Riley if you wake up i'll take you fishing"

I regret not going to the hospital and seeing him, it kills me knowing he died without him seeing me.

BTW: His father is in jail right now because they want to get to the bottom of this, I knew his dad, his dad loved Riley and he would rather cut his legs off than see his son suffer or die.

R.I.P Riley Bragg

We'll miss you man, we love you :(

He was just 14 years old, he died so young...I went to his girlfriends house( my best friend) today and I have never seen a girl cry so hard in my life, she soaked my shirt in tears. My girlfriend started crying, everyone started crying. Such a horrible thing for a kids to go through.

If its allowed, have you thought about going to see his father?

I don't think he wants to see anyone, knowing his dad, he may kill himself because of this...Riley was his prize, his life...and now he's gone because of the gun he was holding. He won't be able to take this.
