Hey showcase, I have a 38 with a midrange pipe and Boyesen Rad valve. According to Boyesen, I should be in the range of: 168-172 and
48-55
the needle size they gave me made no sense, so I have read alot on here that a CEL or DGH needle works well.

r u talking about a 38 keihn or 38 mikuni because the mikuni jets start around the 450 range not 180 like keihn

I am running a 38mm Mikuni TMX carb on an ESR 310 cylinder with TRX7 porting. I am also running a K&N air filter with no lid on a stock airbox, and an ESR TRX6 pipe. My current jet settings are:
25 pilot
6BEH1-73 needle with the clip on the second from leanest position
420 main
My altitude is about 800-1000 ft, average temp 70-90 degrees. This jetting is on the rich side. I realize this isn't a 36mm carb, but it may give you some idea of where to start.

hey mxracer97, the jets that came in the carb form esr are 460main 25 pilot, clip in middle position, now correct me if im wrong but i would drop jet size to lean it and go up in jet size to make it richer right? that being the case why is you 310 using less ful/air mixture than my 261 if those jets are close? and dont the mikuni jets go by 5 unlike the keihn?
thanks for the info

wow, robert at ESR got back to me within an hour, i almost had a heart attack, he said they jet all the carbs and it should be good to do heat cycles and then ill probally have to adjust the main jet from there, so im probally around the same main size as you mxracer by the time i get it fine tunes, i havent taken this carb apart yet, ive been told they require more tools and take longer than a ypical keign is this true?
